The project involves two partners: the University of Pavia as Applicant and Know-how provider, Testemitanu State University from the Republic of Moldova (RM), as Know-how beneficiaries. This project builds on the bilateral cooperation initiated in 2020. The extension of the collaboration will allow to enforce the competencies of Moldavian beneficiary for an integrated approach between the research ability and the practical application in occupational fields as well as to develop new competence in environmental ones.
Taking into account the Moldavian needs in occupational and environmental fields, Italian know-how will be transferred in mutual learning and practice for academic staff and health professionals. The pillar for actions both in occupational and environmental fields is the risk assessment. The first step of Occupational risk assessment (ORA) and of Environmental risk assessment (ERA) is measuring and classifying the hazard and potential related risks. Then researchers and policymakers’ actions may be adjusted both regarding removal of the hazards and prevention of the risks.
Since the RM has the candidate country status to the European Union, all the actions to strengthen and help Moldavian path to UE membership will be identified and implemented. The actions regarding occupational and environmental fields are the parts of these:
- the implementation of the ILO Convention 161-Occupational health services in the RM began under the previous KEP project, requires monitoring, evaluation and support;
- the operationalization of the Environment European Policies requires to develop skills on environmental risk assessment.
